Our Next Game Club Meeting Will Be on Thursday, February 25 from 5-7p.m. in BA3004

Hello, everyone.

I hope that all of you had a nice, relaxing reading week.  We will be having our next Game Club meeting on Thursday, February 25 from 5-7p.m. in BA3004.  A number of you may be very busy this week with midterms and such, but the meeting for this week is still on.  So, if you’d like to drop by, but can only stay for a short while, that’s cool and we’ll see you there.

Our Next Game Club Meeting will be on Thursday, February 11 from 5-7p.m. in BA3004

Hello, everyone.

We will be having our next Game Club meeting on Thursday, February 11 from 5-7p.m. in BA3004, which is the same time and place as last week’s meeting.

However, this week we will be having a special meeting because the details for this year’s GMD competition will be announced.  Details that will include the year’s never-before mentioned GMD theme.   So, it is highly recommended that all registered GMD participants attend this meeting.  And if you haven’t already registered for GMD, your in luck because there is still time to do so, but this Thursday’s meeting will be the last time that you can register for the competition.  If you still want to participate in this year’s GMD, then please make sure that you submit your registration form and pay your registration fee by our next Game Club meeting on Thursday, February 11.

You can get the registration form and more details about the 2010 Game Making Deathmatch at:

We’ll see you on Thursday.

The Hand Eye Society’s First Social of 2010

The Hand Eye Society will be having their first social event of 2010 on Thursday, February 11th.

If you haven’t heard of them before, The Hand Eye Society is an association of individuals from Toronto’s video game development community who share the common interest of connecting the community with itself and its audience. They are responsible for helping with a number of video game development projects in Toronto, including the annual TOJam events. With a membership base that recently reached 100 members, The Hand Eye Society includes some notable members such as Jonathan Mak, the developer of the popular indie title Everyday Shooter, and Nathan Vella, the president and co-founder of Capybara Games that developed the critically acclaimed video game Critter Crunch.

In fact, Nathan Vella will be hosting this social event, and according to the Hand Eye Society’s website, the event will also include several presentations of upcoming games that are being developed by some of Toronto’s indie game studios. All-in-all, it sounds like something that could be interesting to attend. So, if you want more information about the time and location for the social event, you can visit this post on the Hand Eye Society’s website. Luckily, The Hand Eye Society social will begin after our Game Club meeting on Thursday, so if you have the time and are interested, you can attend both.

There’s an IGDA Presentation This Week

Just in case you haven’t already heard, the Toronto chapter of the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) is hosting a presentation at Metro Hall in downtown Toronto on Thursday, February 4 starting at 7p.m.   From the looks of the description on the IGDA’s website, this will be a programming centered event that will teach developers a bit about how they can put Flash on the iPhone and Android mobile operating systems and some other new places as well.

After the event, the IGDA will be having their monthly social event that usually takes place on the first Thursday of every month at the Elephant and Castle.  The social event will start at 9p.m.  We’re still having our own Game Club meeting on Thursday, February 4 from 5-7p.m., but if any of you are interested in going to this IGDA event after our meeting, you can find more specific details about it at www.igda.org/toronto
