Weekly video game freeware
Back in the beginning of September 2010, fellow utGDDC member, Sean, started regularly posting Weekly Freeware threads in the Off-topic forum. Now, with over 10 different freeware video games introduced so far, these forum postings have developed into a small collection of the best free games to download online. This post features all of the games that have been discussed so far, and it will grow as Sean (and others) post freeware that they feel you should see for the week. Enjoy.

Belated congratulations to utGDDC alumni Mark and Ante for the release of “Dex Hamilton’s Bug Quest”
This is a post that should have been put up a long time ago, but unfortunately it hasn’t happened until now.
A BIG, belated congratulations goes out to Mark, former utGDDC president from several years ago, and Ante, utGDDC alumni, who helped release the Flash game, Dex Hamilton’s Bug Quest, with the company that developed this game, March Entertainment. Dex Hamilton’s Bug Quest was released in November 2010, and Mark and Ante were responsible for the bulk of the video game’s programming. It’s a really neat Flash game with high production values that you should check out. You can see the utGDDC forum posting about this game at http://forum.utgddc.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1335
Congratualtions to Barry for the release of “Rework the Dead: Evil”
Congratulations go out to fellow utGDDC member, Barry, who just finished “Rework the Dead: Evil”, an independent video game that he has been recently working on. The game is absolutely free to download and play, and you can get more information about it on the forums at http://forum.utgddc.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1351
Oh, and by the way, this is NOT Barry’s first rodeo. He’s also made a large number of other creative and unique video games, which you can download and play for free by checking out http://forum.utgddc.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1323

See you then.
Our next game club meeting will be on Thursday, February 3 from 5p.m. – 7p.m. in BA B025 with GMD 2011 game submissions due.â€
Hey everyone,
Our next game club meeting will be this week on Thursday February 3 from 5p.m. – 7p.m. in BA B025. Same time and room as last week.
This will also be the meeting to submit your game for GMD 2011 if you are participating in the competition. GMD 2011 game submissions and any required files must be handed in at this week’s meeting or earlier; your submission for GMD 2011 will not count otherwise. Instructions for submitting your game can be found on the GMD 2011 Sign-up Form, which you can get at http://gmd.utgddc.com/2011/files/GMD2k11rules1.pdf
During this week’s meeting, we will be having a reporter from the GH Radix to interview the club. If you don’t mind having your picture taken for this interview, then please let us know by email or at the meeting. Please note that it’s NOT mandatory to have your picture taken in order to participate (or watch) this interview, so don’t let that stop you from showing up. The topic for this week’s meeting will be discussing the do’s and dont’s of our recent GMD experience.
See you there.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 27 from 5p.m. – 7p.m. in BA B025â€
Hello everyone,
Our next game club meeting will be happening on Thursday, January 27 from 5p.m. – 7p.m. in BA B025. Same time, but a slightly different room than last week’s meeting. This week we’ll be showing you how to quickly find Creative Commons materials (sprites, sounds, music, etc.) that you can use in your GMD 2011 game submissions for free. Knowing about the Creative Commons license and where to find media that uses it is incredibly useful and time-saving when making your GMD game, which is why we’ll be going over it in this week’s meeting.
Also, there’s some more good news, everyone. The videogame submission deadline for GMD 2011 has been EXTENDED by ONE week. The new videogame submission deadline is now Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 9 p.m. EST. So, enjoy that extra time to polish up your game submissions.
See you at the meeting this week.
Possible GMD 2011 game submission extension
